Welcome

Language & Culture Services provides administrative services related to the following programs: English as a second language (ESL); ESL Endorsement; translation services; and multicultural evaluation for Special Education referrals.

We ensure that schools' climate and culture is fostered through education, advocacy, and training so that the schools and community can be engaged, participate, and support student success and learning.

Mission Statement
The mission of Language & Culture Services (LCS) is to provide culture and language support to schools, families, and communities of diverse backgrounds.

Jordan School District currently serves 5,581 students learning English, with 1,987 of those students being Newcomers (in their first 3 years in the U.S.). Our students represent 86 countries, speak over 56 languages, and bring a world of knowledge to our classrooms. -January, 2025 data

LCS operates under law in accordance to Title III and the Civil Rights acts of 1964:
The primary purpose of Title III is to help students learning English attain English proficiency and achieve state academic standards. This involves funding programs that provide language instruction and related services. These services include but are not limited to use for translation and interpretation services.
